CONSTRUCTION MASON FOREMAN
Responsible for the installation and supervision of landscape masonry projects, overseeing crews of workers and coordinating their efforts to ensure successful completion of construction projects in accordance with the project plan, on time, and within budget.
ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS
- Fully understand project plans prior to commencement of fieldwork.
- Work with crew members to ensure their understanding of the project, their roles, and the timeline for completion.
- Work with Area Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure all staffing has been completed and all materials and supplies have been procured in advance of project start.
- Ensure the site has been appropriately approved and marked for digging.
- Troubleshoot problems and issues timely engaging Area Superintendent and Project Manager or others, as may be needed.
- Direct activities on the job site including coordination of workflow, hands on work, and operating of machinery as it relates to masonry-specific task.
- Manage personnel effectively and efficiently.
- Communicate production goals with crew members and clients.
- Make decisions within reason and following design specifications.
- Monitor all tools, equipment and machinery for needed maintenance.
- Ensure all crew members utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ensure that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Ensure that all safety rules and company safety policies are adhered to.
- Strive to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility.
- Track and record all job hours worked accurately.
- Complete and submit accurate daily time records and daily logs for each project site.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Train crew members on best practices and company standards.
- All Essential Elements that a “Construction Mason” performs.
SECONDARY ELEMENTS
- Perform other related duties as assigned or as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years related experience in the landscape construction industry including supervision of small teams.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Prior experience with pavers, stone, retaining walls, and concrete work required.
- Strong working knowledge of all masonry, equipment, and tools.
- Knowledge and experience with installing a variety of hardscape applications.
- Highly motivated, self-driven individual who is detail oriented.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills positively impacting teams and clients.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
- Ability to adjust working schedule on short notice or to accommodate current projects.
- Time Management skills and ability to work long hours.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Clean and Professional appearance.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Bilingual (Spanish/Portuguese) a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally assist with lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regular, predictable attendance is required.
